Three muses minister to each other’s desires in a series of tableaux vivants. Reduced from works of the Italian Renaissance, the trio has been removed from their elaborate mythological settings, and any setting whatsoever. There are, however, a metal fan, three nude slips, and other tools of artifice provided that the muses might revive, in their gesturing, a repressed material, a symbol, the goddess’s pagan wish.
